Collett’s Dixie Rose

Dixie (First-Calf Heifer)

What a fantastic heifer out of Trixie & Monty!  I had come to regret selling Trixie so soon, so was glad that she didn’t go too far away.  This has meant I’ve been able to buy some of her calves back, and I’m so glad to have the opportunity to bring this girl home!

Dixie is long & deep bodied, and very well put together, and looks to be a significant improvement over Trixie.  And such a sweetheart disposition!  I’m very excited to bring this combo of bloodlines back into my herd.

Dixie is maturing into a fine-looking young cow.  She has had her first calf, without complication, and is being a wonderful first-time momma.  She has the nice udder & teat structure she was bred for.  She only has enough milk for her calf at this time, though, so is not being trained to milk this lactation.

Due to an abundance of heifers being born this year, I need to sell quite a few animals.  It makes me very sad to see Dixie leave so soon, but Lacey will be kept as her replacement.  Dixie is halter trained, and tested negative for Johne’s, BVD, BLV, and neospora in fall of 2017.

The first photo below was taken when Dixie was 8 months old.  The next two and the udder photo were taken about a week after calving.
