NewHope Ruby Milkmaid

Ruby (First-Calf Heifer)

Here’s another very short-statured heifer by Milkman.  This girl is a real gem…such a sweetheart personality & great structure as well.  And with Jammy’s udder & milk production looking the way it does, Ruby should be a fine milk cow also.  She has plenty of Belle Fourche/ Hillview/ Mrald breeding behind her, so what a neat little package she is!  Ruby is halter trained, and quite the pocket cow.  I’m very happy to have her in the herd.

Ruby has had her first calf & is being a wonderful first-time momma.  She has a lovely udder with great teat spacing.  I didn’t have time to train her to milk this year, but she seems to have a good milk supply, so should mature into a fine milk cow.  Ruby has given me a nice replacement heifer, so she will be available to go to a new home once Velvet is weaned late fall.  She tested negative for Johne’s, BVD, BLV, and neospora in the fall of 2017.

The small photos below show Ruby as a newborn & at 5 months old…what a nice looking calf.  The larger photos were at 15 months old.  The udder photos were taken 3 days after calving.
