Blue (Songwood 2024 Bull of the Year!)
Such a nice boy out of Cara & Cash! He had the bluest, baby blue eyes you’ve ever seen when he was born, and they stayed blue for quite a long time before turning to light brown.
Blue has been a well-built, thick, stout boy since birth, with a great disposition – very easy to work with. He got Cash’s fabulous width between the legs & nicely muscled rear end to boot. I’m very happy with how he’s turning out so far! (Photo at right from June 2024 – 4 yrs old)
Blue has given me three daughters for my herd. They are lovely, thick bodied girls with sweet dispositions – I’m very happy with them! He has since been serving as herdsire for our sister herd at Hidden Pond Grasslands in Indiana, and has matured into a very fine looking bull. His average calf birth weight is 39 lbs.
Blue has a 5-generation inbreeding coefficient of only 0.2% (yes, there’s a decimal point there – two-tenths of a percent), so an excellent score!
