NewHope Lady Liberty

Libby (Milk Cow) SOLD

Another lovely heifer by Thomas!  She didn’t quite make it in time for the fireworks, but close enough to earn herself a liberty name.  I am delighted to have such a friendly, pretty girl out of Janie.

Libby has matured into a fine-looking, well-built cow.  And such a love!  I’m very happy with the improvements I see over her dam. She has great conformation, milk production and muscling. She’s milking very well and has a great udder with a nice high rear attachment. She produces the rich creamy milk her lines are known for…delicious!

The following is one of the hardest updates I’ve ever had to write. Libby will be available to go to a new home this fall, once Eclipse is weaned. I do not want to sell her, but I must. Libby has been my main, go-to milker all these years and I love her dearly. With her first calving, she freshened with a blind front quarter, I assume from being sucked on by another calf as a heifer. And her udder floor has started to get some slope to it with age and the heavy production in her rear quarters. She is still the heaviest producer in my herd, even with just three functional quarters. Otherwise, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her. She has not once shown even the slightest hint of getting mastitis, and has been an all around healthy girl her whole life.

Libby is halter trained, and share-milks beautifully. She has been producing fabulously well-built calves with nice dispositions. She is bred back to Bricker for an April 2025 calf.

I will not sell Libby to just anybody. You must be able & willing to come to the farm before purchase, so Libby & I can meet you. You must be serious about milking (preferably have experience) – and be committed to milking her every day for the first three months after calving. She generally has between 1-1.5 gallons/day beyond what her calf can consume for the first 6 weeks or so (through peak) – she MUST be milked. Please do not inquire if you cannot meet these requirements.
