Songwood Mucha Alegria

Ria (First-calf Heifer)

Bunny presented me with this lovely gift shortly after 1 am on my birthday.  I am “Very Happy” to have this well-built heifer out of her & Mooch.  Ria has great depth, width & length, as she should, and I’m excited to watch her mature.

Ria has been on the smaller side, so I wanted her to have a little extra time to grow. I planned to have her calve in the fall instead of the heat of summer…and am pretty sure I didn’t have her in with a bull before the beginning of December. I’m not sure how she got bred, but by the beginning of June it was clear she hadn’t followed my plan!

She’s being a very good first-time momma, though she only has enough milk to feed her calf, so isn’t being trained to milk.

See her baby photo below. The second photo is from Nov 2018, at almost 6 months old.
